about the event

After its launch at 4bid Indie Press in Amsterdam in November 2022, Andrea van der Kuil’s 'in plein site' makes its way to The Living Room, Arnhem through the form of a night of poetry and performance.

A collection of poems and digital drawings,'in plein site', is the result of an investigation into the notions of worth surrounding the female crafter, her craft object, and her crafting process. Through an autoethnographic methodology, Andrea van der Kuil wrote this collection of poems as a way to disseminate the academic ideas of her Masters research to a wider audience. This handmade book incorporates multiple moments from her durational craft practice through text, materials, and illustration, and asks to become physically part of its reader's life.

Come and join us on 11th March 2023 for a cosy night of conversation, poetry and performance with a dance performance by Daria Titova, a musical performance by Maria Cozzani, and a poetry reading by Andrea van der Kuil.

The Living Room is a venue for events and studio spaces. Spacious, expansive, creative and active, our space offers a blank canvas to realise your next performance, event or workshop idea. We seek for people, things, concepts and experiences that bring art, performance, somatics, health, parties and everything in between and more, to offer a space for exploration, experimentation, play and creation. We believe in an international, multidisciplinary and diverse approach, and welcome artists and practitioners to share, exchange and stimulate the people of Arnhem and beyond.
